We have a long-term commitment to growing school programs to promote dairy foods and health in the classroom. More than ever, parents and students are interested in learning about where their food comes from. We expanded the DairyAmazing curriculum from Dallas ISD to include North East ISD, in the San Antonio area. Our intent is to broaden the DairyAmazing curriculum through our Fuel Up to Play 60 partners.
The program is designed to bring students, teachers and dairy farmers together — whether on the farm, via technology or in the classroom — to learn how milk gets from the farm to the table.
The curriculum includes four lesson plans, videos and activities, plus a poster for the classroom to remind students about the nutritional importance of dairy. Thanks to a successful pilot program, we were able to expand farm-to-school in the fall of 2017 academic year with plans for continued growth in 2018.
