Instructions
Stovetop Directions:
- Place the following ingredients in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat:
- Sugar, granulated
- Water
- Pumpkin puree
- Pumpkin spice
- Stir occasionally to keep the sugar from sticking to the bottom. Bring the mixture to a simmer, 2-4 minutes or until the sugar has completely dissolved. Remove from the stovetop and add vanilla extract.
- Cool the syrup and store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Make sure to hold and serve at 41°F or below. Avoid bare-hand contact with ready-to-eat food.
Microwave Directions:
- Place the following ingredients in a microwave-safe container:
- Sugar, granulated
- Water
- Pumpkin puree
- Pumpkin spice
- Heat for 2 minutes in the microwave. Using potholders, safely remove the syrup from the microwave and stir. If the sugar has not dissolved, continue to heat in 30-second increments until done.
- Add vanilla extract. Cool the syrup and store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
Critical Control Point (CCP): Hold and serve at 41°F or below. Avoid bare-hand contact with ready-to-eat food.
Tip
- Store the simple syrup in the cooler for up to one week. Ensure that the container is clean and airtight.
- This recipe goes great in a Pumpkin Spice Latte.
